Homemade Castille Laundry Soap

My favorite homemade laundry soap!

I have been making my own laundry soap for about a year now, using Fels Naptha bar soap most recipes call for.

I don’t know about you, but strong fragrances take my breath away.

Fels Naptha is strongly scented. It is also colored.

The label is not very detailed as far as ingredients are concerned.

Now, it cleans very well. I love it as far as that’s concerned.

However, my whole purpose in taking the time to make my own is for a natural product.

So, I have decided to use Castile Soap.

I combine Kirk’s Castille made with coconut oil with Dr. Bronner’s Castile Soap with Lavender.

I love the light lavender scent!

Start with one bar of  Kirk’s Castille Soap.

Grate it. White and Fluffy!

Now grab a bar of Dr Bronners. I use lavender. Love the scent of this soap!

Grate one bar. Ahh…smells good!

Add 4 cups of hot water. Pour over the grater. Heat till melted. It won’t take long!
Pour into a five gallon bucket.

Add one cup of Washing Soda.

Add one cup of Borax.

Stir well.

Fill five gallon bucket almost to the top with hot water. Stir well. Let sit overnight.
NOTE: This recipe will not gel. Do not dilute.
Use 1/4 cup in each load.
