How We Cut Heating Costs

Not very pretty is it?

Not exactly a lovely stone fireplace.

But it gets the job done!

And it is hidden in the basement.

When buying our home, it was in the dining area.

It was newer and cleaner then.

A few years later, when Angel came along, the wood burner was temporarily retired.

To avoid curious fingers getting burned.

Colors in the Sky

Although this past year was one of the wettest on record,

the rain also brought with it some of the most

beautiful rainbows!

In the garden

I miss my garden this time of year.

Somehow in the garden is where I feel most connected to my Creator.

I have curled up in the rows of beans and poured  my heart out to Him many a time.

Stuffed mice. Squeaky mice.

Mouse tied to an elastic string hanging from a doorway.

A mouse-shaped laser pointer.

Balls with bells. Spongy crazy balls.

Feathers dangling from doorknobs.

You get the idea.

 Yet, just as those Christmas mornings that live in our memories,

when Angel and Princess preferred playing inside large cardboard boxes

rather than with the actual toy that once inhabited the box,

Sox  prefers a laundry basket!

My Chickens Walk All Over Me

Yes. That is a chicken on my back.

Although pleading my case with Camo Guy, promising to treat them as homestead livestock in order to obtain chickens, they now are indeed pets.

(He knew it would be the case all along.)

While working outdoors this past summer, our Beagles began barking.

Their kennel is fairly close to the newly arrived chicken house.

However, the dogs have never shown much interest in the new addition.

Then I noticed the Buckeyes becoming agitated.
